THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS are over. 6 weeks have passed by in the blink of an eye. My daughter returns to school today.
It’s another milestone moment- the first day of secondary school.
Schooling in the West has become increasingly difficult for Muslims and there certainly will be new challenges.
I often wonder if I will be able to live up to my responsibility to her.
Here I am reminded of this dua of the Prophet ﷺ:
أَسْتَـوْدِعُكُـمُ اللَّهَ الَّذي لا تَضـيعُ وَدائِعُـه
I place you in Allah’s trust, whose trust is never misplaced. (ibn Majah)
I can only do so much. So, I, the one who is needy and poor, turn only to the One who has control over all affairs and ask Him to protect and cherish my children. Each moment, every moment, in my presence, in my absence.
