In current times, when the use of technology is rife and the average person’s use of social media is 4-5 hours, our day to day life has lost focus and become complicated and overwhelming.
When processes and systems have become more efficient than has ever been in the past in order to make life more simple, our life has become more stressful, our time has become more stretched and we appear to lose connection to the most precious connections in our life. Our parents, partners, children and more importantly our relationship with Allah SWT.
It is during these times that a person’s Imaan becomes in danger and the Prophet SAW is reported to have said:
“Be prompt in doing good deeds (before you are overtaken) by turbulence which would be like a part of the dark night. During (that stormy period) a man would be a Muslim in the morning and an unbeliever in the evening or he would be a believer in the evening and an unbeliever in the morning, and would sell his faith for worldly goods.” (Sahih Muslim:118)
It is during such fragile times where humanity’s moral standards has been called into question, given recent conflicts that we must maintain a strong connection with Allah SWT and fulfil the rights of others.
Advice:
- Have moments of solitude in the day where you open your heart to Allah SWT with Dua and Quran.
- Be there in the moment with your parents, wife, children and friends and avoid getting distracted by the gadgets that we have befriended.
- Know that with greater challenges of our times, it requires us to step up to the challenge and exert ourselves even more than before.
- Finally, keep things simple and always live your life for Allah SWT, according to what Allah SWT wants and the way shown by our beloved Prophet (Sallalaho alayhi wa aalihee wasalam) and you will always find comfort and content with Allah SWT’s plans.
Keep things simple in complicated times.
