The ongoing war in Gaza is approaching 5 months and we have all witnessed the atrocities carried out by the Zionists and these atrocities have led to the killing of innocent lives including children.  The recent weeks have clearly demonstrated that the Zionists can carry out killing with impunity with the so-called international community turning a blind eye; the war has also shown the double standards and hypocrisy of the West i.e. the West is quick at condemning Russian atrocities in Ukraine, however, it has remained quite about Zionist atrocities in Gaza and the West Bank as the west backs and supports the Zionist state.

It is sad to see that the governments of the Muslim countries that surround the Zionist state have remained silent and have not intervened to defend the Palestinians as these governments have an Islamic obligation which is to defend Masjid Al Aqsa and the Palestinians.

History has shown that when Muslims were governed by Islam, there was unity, prosperity, peace and progress within the Middle East thus Muslims, Christians and Jews lived side by side in peace.  Islamic governance offered justice and equity for all its citizens thus this led to people embracing Islam as the masses experienced the justice of Islamic governance.  There are many examples from Islamic history which highlight that the Khilafah defended its citizens and the holy lands; the Islamic polity liberated Palestine from the Crusaders and defended Palestine up to the early part of the 20th century.

Muslims of the 21st century must look back on Islamic history and take inspiration from Islamic history to move forward.  The Muslim Ummah must be a part of the work that will re-instate the Islamic polity which existed for 14 centuries as this is the entity that will unify the Muslim Ummah and defend the honour of Islam, the Muslims and the Islamic holy lands.  As parents, we must empower our children with Islam so that our children become the ambassadors of Islam.

Allah Ta’la says:

“Allah has promised those of you who believe and do good that He will certainly make them successors in the land, as He did with those before them; and will surely establish for them their faith which He has chosen for them; and will indeed change their fear into security—˹provided that˺ they worship Me, associating nothing with Me. But whoever disbelieves after this ˹promise˺, it is they who will be the rebellious.”

Surah An-Nur, Verse 55
