New legislation under proposal by the government looks set to enforce single-sex toilets in new buildings reversing a trend of gender-neutral toilets that have been seen implemented in commercial as well as educational buildings including Buxton Primary School in Leytonstone.
Whilst this proposed legislation is a cynical ploy by the government to appeal to the traditional voters ahead of the general election, the issue of biological gender has always been an obstacle to the full implementation of secularism, because gender, which is binary in nature, results in real differences between the sexes that have always stood in the way of absolute equality. However, what we have seen in this secular society is that gender equality has evolved to gender neutrality because the perverted minds imagine that they can do better by re-engineering human gender as they please.
In Islam, we have clear guidelines from the Creator of Man on the role of gender in society. Allah, the All-Knowing and Aware, exhorted us to consider His creation of humanity from men and women, when He (SWT) said:
(يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ وَأُنثَى وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ)
“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Aware.” [49:13]
The discourse surrounding gender neutrality and what it means to be a man or a woman is constantly changing and evolving. That is one of the major issues with theories that are built off man-made ideologies and philosophies, particularly those that are born from a secular worldview with a completely different ideology than Islam. They will constantly change and adapt to fit the dominant social, political, economic, and philosophical norms. Since these ideologies are man-made, there is no deeper purpose or origin for existence and all values are completely separated from God and religion. According to the Islamic worldview – a worldview rooted in Divine revelation -, everything is connected to the worship of Allah (SWT). The Islamic paradigm is rooted in faith in the Almighty Divine Being that has created this universe and everything it contains with purpose.
